The mine has been the largest supplier of turquoise to the southwestern jewelry industry. The Kingman mine was once part of a turquoise boom around 1000 AD, when the Mayan culture used it extensively for adornments. Today, as in ancient times, blue turquoise from Kingman, Arizona, is king.
